10 Random Questions with Jayne Balke

Jayne Balke is not only one of the biggest fans of The Vampire Diaries that I know, she’s also one of my personal favorite TV fans in general. And not just because she has a sexy Australian accent. It does help that she loves Joseph Morgan just as much as I do. Read her answers to my silly questions below and be sure to check out her blog and definitely follow her on twitter: @Jayneymoo.

10 Random Questions with Carrie Raisler

Carrie Raisler  is a high class TV addict (One Tree HillSupernaturalJustified and hundreds of others) and she writes one of my favorite recaps of The Vampire Diaries. Be sure to follow her on Twitter (@TVandDinners) and check out her stuff at The A.V. Club. But first, read her answers to my random questions:

Do you read fanfic?

Back in my Dawson’s Creek fandom days, I used to read DC fanfic all of the time. I think it was the only way us Pacey/Joey fans could get through seasons five and six, honestly. Since then I haven’t read much fanfic at all, save a few Veronica Mars fics during the first season. I think I just had a hard time finding writers I liked and shows I was invested enough in to seek out fic after Dawson’s Creek.

Person you’d most like to have dinner with tonight

My mom. She lives in Florida and I miss her!

Last episode of television that made you cry

I just need to preface this by saying this answer is extremely embarrassing. It was the most recent episode of Smash, “The Phenomenon.” It is perhaps the most horrible episode of television that’s aired in 2013 so far, but there is one tiny, genuine moment of emotion at the end when Jimmy (who I hate!) is singing a song and it got to me. I’m not proud.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Beer. I’m simple.

Song you will never get enough of

“Just Like Heaven” by The Cure. It makes me indescribably happy.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

I don’t tumbl at all. I don’t really understand tumblr. I had grand plans to start a One Tree Hill tumblr a few years ago highlighting all the insane things that happen on the show, but I only got so far as registering the site name (wtfonetreehill.tumblr.com) before throwing up my hands in defeat. Moral of the story: I am not good at learning new things.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Iron Man 3. It was fun! Whoever decided to cast Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark all those years ago should get All The Money, honestly.

Favorite musical instrument

Piano. I wish I could play better because it’s such a lovely, versatile instrument.

If you were forced to be on a reality show, which would it be?

The Amazing Race. I used to work in reality television and so I know what goes on behind the scenes at most reality shows. TAR is the only one I would ever even consider because at least you get to see the world and go on adventures.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

The Princess Bride

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Halloween, but only for adults. This is a kid holiday, people! What are you doing?

You’re a groupie. Who’s the band?

Ryan Adams. That’s not really a band, but he’ll always be my favorite musician.

Best book you’ve ever read

The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. Many years ago when I still lived and worked in L.A., I randomly picked up a coworker’s copy (we were on set and I was bored) and could not put it down. I went to a bookstore immediately and bought my own copy and devoured it. I’ve since bought several more copies because I keep giving mine away to people because I’m desperate for them to read it. It’s phenomenally compelling.

Your favorite thing to do alone

Watch TV. That way no one talks and interrupts the action. (Yes, I’m that person.)

First concert

New Kids on the Block. I’m old!

Cake or Bacon?

Cake. Cake is my favorite food, which explains a lot about why my pants don’t fit.

10 Random Questions with Melissa Leaman

If you don’t know my friend Melissa Leaman, you should. Melissa is a great author with passionate opinions, impeccable taste in television  and so much more. Mel is always happy to discuss The Vampire DiariesOne Tree Hill, Teen Wolf, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer with me and I always love to hear her thoughts.  We also share detest for shipper wars, political atrocities and chips with calories. Be sure to follow Melissa on Twitter, on her personal blog and on her tumblr. Right after you read her brilliant, (more than) 10 random answers.

Favorite Color:

Blue. Yankee blue to be exact.

Do you read fanfic?:

Obsessively. And I kind of wish more people did. There’s a lot of really awful fanfic out there and that’s usually what gets referenced in media as a joke. Plus for every one good story there’s ten “what the hell is this and why can’t you spell anything and holy wow that is not how shotgunning works” terrible stories. But the good ones are impressive. A lot of aspiring writers seem to be working out their style through fanfic these days and if you’re willing to ask people for recommendations, you can find 50,000 word epics that are better than a lot of books & don’t require an indepth understanding of a show.

And of course, if you just want some good porn, that’s there too. Just not 50 Shades.

Person you’d most like to have dinner with tonight

Joss Whedon.

Last episode of television that made you cry

It feels like it’s been way too long since I’ve cried at a newly aired episode of TV. But probably something from Grey’s Anatomy.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Assuming it’s not a cheap happy hour…some variation on a martini. Huckleberry ones preferably but that tends to be a Northwest thing.

Song you will never get enough of

“Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who. “Livin’ in the Future” by Bruce Springsteen. “Cocaine Blues” by Johnny Cash. “Train in Vain” by The Clash.

The name of your secret spy identity

If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

YES. A thousand times yes. The more I’ve gotten into tumblr, the more my own blog falls by the wayside. It’s just so accessible and easy to use and definitely easier to engage followers than standard blogs. I’m just sorry for any non-Teen Wolf fans lately. I’m a wee bit obsessed.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Technically Argo–which was a thoroughly amazing movie, but it was a repeat viewing. The last new to me movie was Amour. I enjoyed it even more than I expected.

Favorite musical instrument

Drums. Specifically guys who play the drums. That still counts right?

If you were forced to be on a reality show, which would it be?

I’d create a new one. “Survival of the Fittest”. Family and friends nominate the most moronic people they know who then fight to the death Hunger Games style. Then I’d cheat my way on and machete my way to victory.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

Oh gosh. Probably Mean Girls, Newsies, and Empire Strikes Back.

Ferris wheel, Roller Coaster or Arcade?

Roller coaster. Always. Just not the ones with giant hills. I’ll take pitch-dark, spins, & twists any day.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Columbus Day. It’s such a bullshit holiday and celebrates genocide and prejudice. Nice one USA.

You’re a groupie. Who’s the band?

McFly

Your favorite food to make for yourself

Mashed potatoes. Ultimate comfort food and I make damn good mashed potatoes.

Best book you’ve ever read

This is a stupid unfair question. But I probably reread “Dealing with Dragons” by Patricia Wrede, “The Emily Trilogy” by LM Montgomery, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, and “Rainbow Six” by Tom Clancy the most.

Favorite smell

The Pacific Northwest coastline. A stormy night on an Oregon beach is full of good, bad, and haunting smells. Also old books.

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

In the morning, I’m making waffles.

Best GIF you’ve ever seen

http://media.tumblr.com/67818fb2f1c51fedd21b637c7855542b/tumblr_inline_mj20lkj6Hh1qz4rgp.gif

Travel and/or flight ritual?

Unless making sure I have books to read is a ritual, not really any. But I do try to bring coloring books, crayons, and a couple toys with me. I color anyway because it’s fun but it’s been a life saver if small kids are on a plane when I travel. Parents get treated like shit by other passengers and being able to help them out a little makes everyone happier. And it’s gotten me free booze from the flight attendants later.

Your favorite thing to do alone

Well there is one thing…

hahaha! Appropriate answer would be read or sing and dance around the house to cheesy pop songs.

First concert

Newsboys. The first one I paid for was I think OzzFest in 2001. That and the co-headlining Green Day/Blink 182 are the ones that stand out.

Cake or Bacon?

Maple bacon cake.

Pajamas in public. Yes or no?

That’s why drive-thrus were invented.

10 Random Questions with Heather Vee

If you are in any way, shape or form a part of the Vampire Diaries fandom, you know Heather Vee. Not only is she the co-founder and site runner for our favorite TVD fansite, Vampire-Diaries.net, she is also co-editor of A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls and co-authoring Love You To Death Season 4 with another of my favorites, Crissy Calhoun. And because she is one of the coolest ladies I’ve ever had the peasure of meeting, she agreed to answer my silly questions.

Favorite Color

Green, all varying shades, all the time.

Do you read fanfic?

I used to, but not anymore. That’s not a commentary on quality, as I have read fic better than a lot of published novels, I’ve just drifted away from that aspect of fandom.

Last episode of television that made you cry

I very rarely cry over television, but when Alaric appeared to Jeremy in the Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale, I lost it.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Either a bourbon, neat, or a Black Velvet, which is half hard cider and half Guinness. Though I have only recently discovered the beauty of a Kentucky Blizzard, so I might have a new go-to.

Song you will never get enough of

This is an impossible question and, frankly, I think you might be a sadist, Erin. How about this: The song I cannot get enough of right now is Jack White’s cover of U2′s “Love is Blindness.”

Tumblr. Yes or no?

I’ve actually had a Tumblr (not the one I use now) since the site was started. It’s very, very different now that it has exploded in popularity. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, who’s to say, but I find myself enjoying it more when I only visit once a week or so. I think Tumblr can facilitate fascinating discussions and I think it’s interesting that fandom seems to have migrated from LiveJournal to Tumblr; Tumblr gives talented fan artists a bigger platform to show off their wares, so that’s a definite positive. In any case, I think it’s good, but not my preferred means of interacting with folks. TWITTER 4EVA.

Favorite musical instrument

Anyone who knows me understands that I have a deep banjo fixation. I often joke that I’m in need of a BANJOS MAKE ME HOT t-shirt. I’m not sure when my love started but it is an enduring love. If you ever want to know the mood you can build with a banjo, stick Neko Case’s “Things That Scare Me” or “Deep Red Bells” on the player and marvel.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

The Princess Bride. I could actually sit in front of you and quote the film in its entirety from start to finish.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

I loathe New Year’s. I have always loathed it. I crawl into bed well before midnight and sleep through it every year.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

I’m very big on roasted asparagus right now. Throw it in a pan, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, add minced garlic and salt, roast. Easy comfort food is remarkably easy.

Best book you’ve ever read

One book?! GO HOME, ERIN, YOU’RE DRUNK. All kidding aside – wow. I have a few books that are very close to my heart, ones I turn to again and again and again. I’m not sure I would trust anyone who had one favorite book. I think I’d just assume that’s the only book they had ever read and then I’d be sad about it.

Favorite smell

I love the smell of ballpoint ink on paper and, tragedy of tragedy, it’s something I don’t smell too often nowadays.

Your favorite thing to do alone

*raises eyebrow*

First concert

My first real concert was Tori Amos. She was touring for Under the Pink at the time, so I’m sure I’ve just dated the hell out of myself there but I can’t overstate what a huge impression she made on me in my pre-teen/teenage years. My first club show was Oasis on their first U.S. tour. I was 15 and my 18+ friends smuggled my Britpop-obsessed self in. I lost a large portion of my hearing in my left ear at that show! I’m partially deaf in that ear to this day. It was absolutely worth it.

10 Random Questions with Author Dianne Sylvan

My friend Dianne Sylvan is a well known author, blogger and tweeter. She has incredible insight on television, movies, and life in general. You will increase the value of your life by following her on twitter and by reading her blog. You can purchase all of her wonderful books on Amazon.com, including the novels in her “Shadow World” series. For the 2nd time, she was kind enough to take a time out from writing her next novel to answer some very important questions for me. VERY important.

1. Favorite color:

Red.

2. Do you read fanfic?

I used to, but I never had as much fun reading it as I did writing it. The last fic I wrote was, well, porn, set in the Supernatural universe.

3. Last episode of television that made you cry:

The Vampire Diaries, “Memorial.”  The scene at the very end with Alaric’s ghost just killed me.

4. Song you will never get enough of:

Adam Lambert, “Fever.”

5. Favorite musical instrument:

I’ve always wanted to learn piano, which is part of why the heroine of my books plays piano; but I also love the violin.  Violinists are inherently hot. (I’ve actually got one of those planned for the series too.)

6. The movie you can recite the most lines from:

A tie between Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters.  I have both memorized from start to finish.

7. Your favorite food to make for yourself:

Plain old yellow cake with chocolate chips in.

8. Waffles, pancakes, or French toast?

Waffles all the way.

9. First concert:

Here’s where I show how old/dorky I am – New Kids on the Block.  I need an app for my phone that, every time I mutter about “kids these days and their awful music,” just texts me in big letters:  HANGIN’ TOUGH.

10. Cake or bacon?

Well, I’m a vegetarian, so I’m gonna go with cake.  The whole bacon obsession thing going on right now really freaks me out.

10 Random Questions with Crissy Calhoun

Not only does Crissy Calhoun (@crissycalhoun on Twitter) write one of our favorite Vampire Diaries recaps (which can be read at Vampire-Diaries.net) but she also writes our favorite unofficial companion (if you have not done so already, you can purchase all three books in the Love You to Death series on Amazon. ) You can read more about her and her passions on her blog: The Calhoun Tribune.

Favorite Color

I wish I knew. This one always stumps me when I have to answer security questions. Definitely not yellow. Sorry, yellow.

Do you read fanfic?

Not even once. Sad life I lead.

Last episode of television that made you cry

Usually it’s Parenthood. But the last episode of TV that made me cry made me weep and it was The Vampire Diaries‘ “Stand By Me.”

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Wait, am I supposed to order something different than I’d buy myself? Uh, bourbon on the rocks please and thanks.

Song you will never get enough of

“Break the Ice” by the one and only Ms. Britney Spears.

The name of your secret spy identity

Georgia tot Sint Jans.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Les Mis, and um… Didn’t dislike it.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

Cheese melt!

Favorite smell

Lavender

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

Cheese melt!

First concert

That I choose to go to? Paula Abdul.

10 Random Questions with Clarissa

Clarissa (@clarissa373 on Twitter) is not only a managing editor for TVovermind.com and a BIG Supernatural fan, she is also a good friend, a wonderful writer and a bit of a mentor to me. Despite her busy schedule, she was kind enough to take some time to answer a few of my random questions. Be sure to follow her on Twitter for all of the latest news and reviews for Supernatural and many of my other favorite shows.

The name of your secret spy identity:

Anastasia Beaverhausen. If it’s good enough for Karen Walker, it’s good enough for me.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

I still don’t understand what Tumblr IS. What is it? What does it want? I’ve been on it a few times and it just confuses and frightens me.

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

French toast. The other two are too dry, no matter who makes them.

Travel and/or flight ritual?

Ignoring everyone around me. I like to be left alone when I travel.  That’s Clarissa’s quiet time.

First concert:

New Kids on the Block.  Oddly enough?  My next upcoming concert is also New Kids on the Block.

Cake or Bacon?

Is there bacon cake? Because I might eat that. I don’t see why I should be forced to choose.

Pajamas in public. Yes or no?

No. Put on some real pants, lazy.

Ferris wheel, Roller Coaster or Arcade?

I’m scared of rides, but an arcade is close enough to gambling to keep me interested.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Arbor Day. I don’t even live in the United States, but that seems silly. Why do they allow this to continue happening every year?  And why do they celebrate arbors but not fences? Fences are much more practical.  P.S. Seriously, what IS Arbor Day?

Favorite smell?

Apple-cinnamon-vanilla-caramel. Basically any of those in any combination.

10 Random Questions with Kate Linnea Welsh

Kate is not just a great friend and a great writer; she is also a very busy woman about town (town being the most important parts of the internet). Kate writes and edits for my favorite TVD site, Vampire Diaries.net, she also writes for TheTelevixen.com (my home away from home), blogs on her own and is launching her own new site: ReadtheScreen.com. Despite all of the awesome work that she does, she took the time to answer more than ten of my random questions. Be sure to follow her on twitter!

Favorite Color

Blue! And I love that it has shades that evoke so many different moods.

Do you read fanfic?

Occasionally, usually when someone recommends a specific story. I used to read and write fanfic frequently but I just haven’t had time given my other writing commitments of late.

Person you’d most like to have dinner with tonight

My grandmother. She passed away when I was in high school and I’d love to be able to talk to her as an adult.

Last episode of television that made you cry

The Fringe series finale. SO MUCH CRYING.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Usually Dewar’s and soda, though if the person buying wants to order me nicer Scotch I don’t object.

The name of your secret spy identity

I actually have a secret identity, so . . . I can’t tell you. :)

Tumblr. Yes or no?

Yep! My Tumblr name is katelinnea.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Zero Dark Thirty. I liked it a lot.

Favorite musical instrument

To play? Violin. To listen to? Trumpet, though I’d rather listen to a full symphony orchestra or a string quartet than any individual instrument.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

The Sound of Music. I can probably recite at least 90% of it, and that is not a short movie.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

I like cooking for other people! But I guess pasta with homemade marinara sauce.

Best book you’ve ever read

I cannot possibly pick just one, but if you put a gun to my head, Pride & Prejudice.

Favorite smell

Crabtree & Evelyn’s La Source scent.

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

Pancakes, but only if made by me or my mom. Otherwise waffles.

Travel and/or flight ritual?

I always start a new book when I arrive at the airport at the beginning of a trip.

Your favorite thing to do alone

Read.

Cake or Bacon?

I’m a vegetarian, so cake!

Pajamas in public. Yes or no?

NO. We live in a society, people.

10 Random Questions with Thomas Galvin

Most of you know Thomas Galvin (@thomascgalvin on Twitter) as the recapper extraordinaire, covering The Vampire Diaries and many of our other favorite genre shows . Thomas also blogs on a number of other topics with the same great humor and collects goodies from around the web so that I don’t have to. His blog (Thomas-Galvin.com) is one of my favorites so be sure to check it out. Thomas is also a respected novelist and you can purchase his first book, Sire here. Between writing amazing recaps and his Vampires of St. Troy sequel, he took some time to play my random questions game!

Song you will never get enough of

I’ve got a handful of favorites. “Murder Incorporated” by Springsteen. “Possession” by Sarah McLachlan. “Of Wold and Man” by Metallica. “Moon and Moon” by Bat for Lashes. The wailing laments of my enemies as I crush their dreams (and windpipes). “Ghost” by Ingrid Michaelson.

The name of your secret spy identity

Brock Pipelay. No, wait, that’s my porn name. Tabby Purrsalot. Crap, no, that’s my Bond Girl name. Um … a secret spy name would have to be pretty generic, wouldn’t it? Something that doesn’t attract attention? Like Dan Johnson or Jim Williams or something.

Also, why the hell does James Bond always introduce himself? “The name’s Bond, James Bond.” “Oh, yes, hello Mr. Bond. We know all about you, because you introduce yourself to everyone on the goddamn planet and then proceed to murder terrorists in the most attention-drawing manner possible. Here is your martini, shaken, not stirred, and mixed with three grams of the deadliest poison we could come up with on seven years’ notice. Also, I just had my friend shoot you in the back. With a regular gun, not some trick umbrella hidden inside a razor-rimmed fedora or some other idiot gadget. Jesus. This isn’t that hard. Look, see, there he is on the floor, bleeding to death. What? No, we’re not going to just leave him there while we go and carry out the rest of our intricate plan that is somehow contains an obvious single point of failure, I’m going to empty my gun into his face, then borrow your gun, empty that into his face, cut his head off, burn his body, and scatter the ashes in the Potomac. Seriously, people. We’re bad guys.”

So yeah, Jim Williams.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

My wife keeps trying to goad me into using it, but so far I’ve resisted its siren song. I get that it makes blogging and reblogging a buttload easier than most platforms, and apparently I’ve been quoted excerpted / ganked a bunch of times, but … I don’t know. I spent a lot of time setting up my own blog and building a following, and Twitter already takes up more of my time than I’m comfortable with. Adding *another* social media platform would be the straw that made the camel go crazy and start stabbing people that ask if I can introduce them to the cast of The Vampire Diaries. Also, Tumblr’s laden with porn. And that’s not a bad thing, per se, it’s just that I don’t need to be quickly checking to see what’s on the intergoogles and have my boss walk by and ask “HEY WHAT’S WITH ALL THE GIANT THROBBING COCK ON YOUR SCREEN LOL YOU’RE FIRED HAHAHA.” That would suck.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Silver Linings Playbook, and no, I kind of hated it. I mean, I understand that the audience wants a happy ending and everything, but taking away Katnis’ bow and arrow and making her fight in a fucking *dance competition* rather than the Hunger Games? Bullshit. I was really hoping for a more faithful adaption of the source material. Goddamn Hollywood.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Christmas. Jesus Christ, I am so sick of Christmas. Look, people. We all hate each other, okay? So let’s stop pretending to be all peace and joy and fucking light. God, one of my neighbors has this giant display, with this balloon snowman that’s like ten feet tall and light-up reindeer and a Santa that *literally* sings *Have a Holly Jolly Christmas* from Thanksgiving until New Years, and I swear to God one of these days I’m going to break into his house, cut his throat, and string him up in his display. Ho ho ho, you son of a bitch. That’s probably going to come back to haunt me, isn’t it?

You’re a groupie. Who’s the band?

Rebekah and the Evil Blood Sluts.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

I’m actually *just* starting to teach myself how to cook. I’ve been reading Four Hour Chef by Tim Ferris, and it’s been fantastic. I haven’t killed us with a single recipe so far. I just learned how to make lobster cakes the other night, which are like crab cakes but made out of meat I can actually find in New York in the winter. They’re pretty amazing. I also learned how to make this sauce from grapeseed oil and teriyaki sauce which is *great* on steamed chicken. My guilty pleasure home cooked meal is microwaved popcorn chicken, if you’re very generous with the definitions of “cooked” and “meal”. Pizza is my favorite, but I’m no good at making that at home.

Best GIF you’ve ever seen

Look, I don’t condone violence against women, but this is kind of mesmerizing:

http://www.thomas-galvin.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/snooki.gif

Travel and/or flight ritual?

I go True Scotsman, just to give the TSA guys a thrill. I also spend a good half hour patting myself down to make sure I didn’t accidentally bring a knife with me.

Your favorite thing to do alone

I brood, I write, and then I brood some more.

Cake or Bacon?

Is this a trick question? Some Eddie Izzard thing? Because I definitely prefer bacon to cake, unless no one was picking “death” so they just changed the name to “bacon.” Don’t try to fool me, missy. I’m on to you.

10 Random Questions with Melissa Miller

My random questions this week are with my good friend and wonderful writer, Melissa Miller from Small Screen Scoop.com. Melissa has great taste in television (I know that because we like so many of the same shows) and gives good recap. You can read my previous interview with Melissa here. Also, be sure to follow her on twitter after reading her (more than) ten random answers below!

Favorite Color

Emerald green, usually. But I also like purple and grey. Not 50 Shades of it though.

Do you read fanfic?

Not really. But not because I’m not interested in some of it, especially the pieces my friends write or recommend. I just am so overloaded with work, that I barely acknowledge my kids exist sometimes as it is, so I have to give something up. That seems like a good one to drop.

Person you’d most like to have dinner with tonight

My best friends, Nicole and Erin. They actually haven’t met (they are from two different groups of friends, one in NY the other in CA) and I think it would be amazing if I could get them in a room together. Plus I miss them both terribly, so even if it was only 5 minutes and we could just hug for a minute, that would be amazing.

Last episode of television that made you cry

Inevitably the answer to this question is Parenthood, am I right?

The drink you order when someone else is buying

So, the only people that buy me drinks that are not my husband are my friends and I don’t like to make them buy me expensive drinks. Usually it’s red beers at The Peacock (or favorite dive bar) because they only cost $1.25, so we buy rounds for each other and it’s very cheap. We are cheap. Or, maybe, a Two Towns Incider. Wow… that answer is very “I live in Oregon.”

Song you will never get enough of

“Call Me Maybe.” No, wait, that’s not right. “Blackbird” by The Beatles is one of my all-time favorites. At least that is what just popped in my head. Ask me later, and I’ll probably answer another way.

The name of your secret spy identity

I’m mostly Russian, so probably something involving the name Natasha or Irina.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

I’m old and just can’t get into it. I want to… but do I need another time suck? Though I appreciate all of your pretty links on twitter, friends.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Les Miserables, and yes. Duh. TWO FOUR SIX OH ONE!

Favorite musical instrument

Depends on who is playing it. Is it a soulful guy, inevitably in a flannel? Then the guitar. Obviously.

If you were forced to be on a reality show, which would it be?

Ummmmmmmmmmmm……… The only ones I would want to be on I’m not qualified for. Can I judge one? I want to judge Top Chef.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

The list that I could answer this question with is embarrassingly long. I’m not sure I even want to start naming them.

Ferris wheel, Roller Coaster or Arcade?

In this order: Roller coaster, arcade, Ferris Wheel of Death (I don’t like Ferris wheels)

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Columbus Day

You’re a groupie. Who’s the band?

Band of Ninjas. Because they are my friends and I love them.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

I make a pasta with just some garlic, olive oil, lemon, crushed red pepper and parm. It’s simple but if I need some comfort food, that always does it. Or, you know, cookie dough without any egg so I can just eat it. Because I’m a GIRL.

Best book you’ve ever read

What sort of sick and twisted person are you for asking me such a question, Erin?! HOW. DARE. YOU! Ha. Ummm…. Pride & Prejudice is my completely cliche and girly answer. Mostly because I can’t possibly try to think of a cooler or better answer.

Favorite smell

Anything that smells clean, like things that are labeled as “linen scent.” I love that.

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

French Toast, I guess. But I’d prefer eggs and bacon. Mmmmm. Bacon.

Best GIF you’ve ever seen

The one of Kermit the Frog doing his crazy excited wavy hands thing. Because if I’m ever excited about anything, that is what plays in my head.

Travel and/or flight ritual?

Valium. Just kidding. I don’t really have one except making sure I have gum and something to read that doesn’t suck.

Your favorite thing to do alone

Watch Parenthood. People shouldn’t be in the room when I watch that.

First concert

I’m honestly not sure. I want to say something like The Beach Boys. My dad liked to take us to concerts for his favorite bands.

Cake or Bacon?

Maple bacon cake. So there.

Pajamas in public. Yes or no?

Soooo…. When you get older and have kids, if you wear PJs in public it goes from being “adorably quirky” to “giving up on life.” In other words, no. No PJs in public. MAYBE yoga type pants if I’m traveling all day, but in general, no.
