“The Vampire Diaries’ Recap: Graduation

???????????????????

I’ve been pretty excited about this finale. Season 4 has had its ups and downs but last week’s episode was especially exciting and emotional. How much longer are we going to have our return guests? Can we keep the ones we love and send back the ones we don’t? (Goodbye Alexander. Hello Lexi FOREVER.)  More importantly, is Bonnie really dead? REALLY?

  • What is Kol blithering on about? Do we care?
  • Second best use of a Bon Jovi song EVER. I think my SPN friends know the first.
  • Is there a way to keep Stefan wasted for the rest of time. Because YES. He is hilarious. Referencing his “Hero Hair,” calling Damon, “Mom.” I am all about this Stefan.
  • More Gilbert Family picnics, please. The smiles from the three of them are incredibly moving. I can’t believe how much I have missed this unit.
  • Where is Caroline’s Uncle Bob? I was really looking forward to meeting him.
  • SNEAKY STEFAN HEART SNATCH.
  • “This is my bar, pal. No one’s gonna blow it up.” Alaric, you guys. I need him. NEED. Desperately.
  • Matty & Rebekah are OOZING unicorns and rainbows. I would totally watch the show where the two of them see the world and constantly suck face.
  • “I don’t think red’s really your color, Bon Bon.” I absolutely adore the way Katherine and Bonnie speak to each other. It’s one snarky remark after another.
  • Stefan thinks that Damon and Elena’s relationship discussion is the MOST IMPORTANT THING. I guess saving the world is 2nd? Fifth, maybe?
  • So Damon is dying of a werewolf bite. Again. I am not worried because Damon will never die and also because Vampire Barbie can just ring Klaus and make him come back to Mystic Falls. Duh.
  • I think we can all agree that Damon is hilarious when mouthing off to bad guys. It’s his best quality.
  • That’s it. Rebekah is not allowed to go to New Orleans while Matt Donovan is still alive. Because they are so much more than I ever thought they could be. And now I want to go back and watch the time he lent her his jacket.
  • Stefan is making decisions and not stressing about everything and seems to be sans the usual stick where the sun don’t shine. This is why we need Lexi all of the time.
  • I have been making a lot of jokes about these kids who never go to school, actually graduating. Especially Stefan, the century & a half old, in a graduation cap and gown. HOWEVER, I am incredibly moved. By Caroline’s enthusiastic speech, by Elena’s smile. By the fact that everyone but Matt is technically dead. Bonnie is actually dead. And no one knows. It’s really quite sad.
  • Bonnie has been fun and awesome and totally self-sacrificing. We can’t really lose her now!! Not right when I love her and want her to stay!!
  • Alaric to Damon’s rescue, almost. The man is perfection. And the two of them are obviously in love. It’s just precious.
  • Klaus shows up, just in time. TOLD YOU. And the guy is really handy with a hat. Have I expressed to you all how much I love that guy, now? Because I really do. And I am going to watch the hell out of his new show. Even if it means less glances at Caroline LIKE THAT. Because: hot. They really would make a beautiful couple, despite his evil nature. Do you think Caroline would enjoy being a step-mom?
  • Stefan’s self-deprecating smile is my weakness. But it’s so hard to see him look at Elena like that, wanting to hear only one thing. Also, I really can’t decide if I want him human. It would be very interesting.
  • Excuse you, Klaus. You are perfect but you are wrong. Tyler is not Caroline’s first love. It was Matt. I’ll forgive you, though because you kissed her like a gentleman and gave Caroline the only thing she really wanted.
  • I actually love it when Damon is not sorry. Damon is at his best when he is not sorry. And just so you know, I’m not sorry that Elena loves him, either. I’m sorry for Stefan but he really does deserve better. MUCH better. And I want him to learn that.
  • There is ONE thing that Damon should be really and truly sorry for: killing Lexi. On a long list of Damon’s sins, that is #1, THE WORST.
  • BROTHER MOMENT. I love it when they love each other and it really took a lot for Stefan to share that with Damon. I’m proud of him.
  • Jeremy is very sweet to not want to say goodbye to Elena, but wasn’t it her inability to do that, that made her lose herself in the first place? Harsh. But I get it.
  • And Damon gets to have his goodbye. Kind of. Why can’t he and Alaric just be together forever?
  • Lexi is saying to Stefan, everything that I want to say to Stefan. It is time to let go. And the best way to get over someone, it to get under someone else. Right? I’m glad she got to give him that advice before she disappeared. I wish she could stay. I really, really wish she would.
  • Where has Katherine been this whole time? She talked to Bonnie like, 12 hours ago.
  • JEREMY IS BACK! OH MY GOD. BONNIE ACTUALLY DID IT. Of course she is leaving. Because I actually like her now. And the things I love on this show are always taken away. She’s sacrificed everything for the ones she loves. At least Jer can still see her. WOW. OUCH.
  • Please do not ask me how many times I rewound and watched Matt & Rebekah. The answer is really embarrassing. Perfect from start to finish. He let her believe that he wasn’t going to go with her. And then he BLEW MY MIND. There are so many damn unicorns up in here, I barely have room to type. PLEASE tell me that we’ll get to see some of their trip. And PLEASE tell me that Matt will hold to his word and his goal to stay human. He’s amazing, just the way he is.
  • Katherine is really going to town on Elena. Mostly. Elena is not bad, though. And this fight is pretty fun to watch.
  • “I’m glad that you’re okay, with who you are now. But every single thing I did to get this, I did for you. So that the choice of whether you wanted to be a vampire or not, would always be yours.” This is why Stefan is the greatest. GREATEST. But Katherine a human? I don’t know about that.
  • Y’all, I am confused. Stefan has a doppelgänger, also? And Silas is sticking around and he’s actually the witch that cast the immortality spell? MY STEFAN IS IN THE FALLS. Not okay.  And instead of all that nature talk, wouldn’t “the witch died so I am back,” be enough of an explanation? I may be a bit lost.

Well. THAT was a surprise ending if ever there was one. And I am not quite sure how I feel about it, to be honest. I do, however, love that this finale really slowed things down for the most part, just enough for us to be able to savor each moment. Because there were a lot of incredible and emotional moments. It also set up some really great stuff for Season 5. Will anyone figure out that it’s not really Stefan? How will Katherine fare as a human? Will Delena last? How quickly will Tyler return? And, of course, the most important question: will Matt and Rebekah invite everyone to their wedding in Italy? When we meet again in the fall, it will be double the vampires, double the fun. It’s gonna be a long summer. Which means you have plenty of time to tell me what you loved about the TVD Season 4 finale. Go nuts!

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Recap: The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead

It’s the penultimate episode of The Vampire Diaries, season 4!!!! (“Who says ‘penultimate’?” I know. Sorry) There’s a lot going on in Mystic Falls and I know that we’re waiting on a lot of answers before next week’s Graduation. Will Bonnie drop the veil? Will Elena get her revenge? Will Klaus & Elijah return to the Grill, one last time? And, most importantly, will Matt get the passing grades he needs?

  • AWOLNation’s “Sail” is an incredible jam. It goes nicely with Elena’s rage.
  • Why exactly does Stefan want to get Elena off of the “kill Katherine” path. Just worry? Do you think maybe he could get another project at some point?
  • So the veil will only be dropped within the expression triangle? What does that mean? Will the OTHERS be trapped inside of that space?
  • “I have no idea what that means.” For once, Sheriff Forbes’ cluelessness isn’t just funny. It’s really helpful.
  • I like this Rebekah. The one who is a part of the group. The one who has a big ol’ crush on Matt. The one trying to be less of a bitch. Don’t get me wrong, I love bitches. But this one is fun, too. Sweet.
  • Poor Caroline. She’s so worried about Elena’s true feelings. I kinda think she used her emotionless state to tell truths she never had the balls to tell before. She’s kind of a mean girl.
  • Husband: “Can’t vampires see in the dark?” He has a point. Why do Stefan & Caroline need a flashlight? Is Maglite a sponser?
  • “Every season the rocks get bigger.” My husband is full of his usual TVD love tonight.
  • ALARIC!!! AAAAHHH!!! Did we know we were going to see his magnificent face? And he’s back with his BEST FRIEND!!! Tears. Also, how much booze did he have stashed at school?
  • (BTW, hope you all got to see the commercial for The Originals. That title card is SLAMMIN. So rad. I am very excited.)
  • “This wind is weird.” Oh Matt. You’re adorable.
  • KOL! I don’t care. He better not hurt Matt.
  • Hahaha!! Bonnie has Katherine on a leash.
  • OH NO!! The link is more than a leash. It’s like the Katherine/Elena thing from season 2!! And now Bonnie has an ouchie.
  • Stefan to the rescue!! “Really? I’m your biggest problem right now?” Katherine is fabulous.
  • How darling and heartbreaking is it that Matt won’t accept Rebekah’s blood? He really wants to cling to that last human standing, thing he has going on. He’s so precious.
  • I cannot believe they actually showed Caroline cutting her wrists. BRUTAL. Which means…
  • It’s actually Silas who’s with Bonnie. That guy is so creepy. But why, if you could wear any face, would you choose that gross one? Eww. And I’m sure it has been said before, but he totally reminds me of The First from Buffy’s last season.
  • ELENA IS JEALOUS!! Hahahahahaha!!!! Love it.
  • Stefan will never give up, will he? He will love her and worry about her and try to help her for the rest of his life. It’s both very sad and very lovely.
  • “Stefan? Isn’t she your girlfriend?” “Who knows?” Not me, Damon. Not me.
  • “Look, Caroline. You’re graduating. And Uncle Bob and Aunt Mary really want you to graduate with both your hands.” I am sorry. I cannot stop laughing. Because I am SURE it’s something Uncle Bob & Aunt Mary have worried about, extensively.
  • Aaaaaaand here come the water works. I think maybe Elena should be helping with the whole end of the world shimsham goin down, but this is important, too. And heart crushing. She never got to say goodbye.
  • GRAMS!!! She must be back to make me cry more because that is what she is best at.
  • So, Bonnie can do anything? ANYTHING? Hook me up with a winning lotto ticket, girl!!
  • Does Alaric hold the record for most times dying on TVD? He must. Either as himself or someone else. It is a lot of times.
  • JEREMY SAVES THE DAY!!! So great to see that kid.
  • Stefan is in all the right places, lately. Saving AND making jokes. Heart that guy so much.
  • Bonnie did good work. Kinda stoked about her at the moment.
  • “Welcome back.” Why do those two words make me cry so much? I mean, the other Elena was kind of awful. And it is nice to see her look at Stefan that way. To see Stefan look that way at her.
  • LEXI!!! LEXI!!! LEXI!!! Full on hysterical sobbing now, FYI. His bestie came for him. And she thanked Caroline. And I love her. LOVE HER.
  • EVERYONE IS WITH THEIR PERSON!!!! And it’s too amazing for words. They all needed this. Not just Elena. Only, where is Jenna?
  • Damon has the cure. What will he do with it? Doesn’t he want Elena to stay a vampire? I can’t remember. Too hard to keep track.
  • Whoa. Lots of hunters. That seems not great.
  • DID BONNIE FREAKING DIE? WHAT IN THE HELL??? RIGHT WHEN SHE GETS COOL?? WHAT?? NO! That can’t be what happened. Who will put the veil back up?

Holy cow. This episode didn’t really move at the breakneck speed I was anticipating but that doesn’t mean that it was slow by any means. A lot happened withing that 42 minutes and it will be interesting to see what becomes of all the new stuff in the season finale. Also, how will they kick start season 5? Is Bonnie really dead? Is it too much to ask Klaus to give Caroline a proper goodbye? Will the veil ever go back up? I kinda hope it stays down for a while longer. I love to see (most of) those old familiar faces. What do you guys think? Are you ready for the last minutes of season 4?

10 Random Questions with Melissa Leaman

If you don’t know my friend Melissa Leaman, you should. Melissa is a great author with passionate opinions, impeccable taste in television  and so much more. Mel is always happy to discuss The Vampire DiariesOne Tree Hill, Teen Wolf, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer with me and I always love to hear her thoughts.  We also share detest for shipper wars, political atrocities and chips with calories. Be sure to follow Melissa on Twitter, on her personal blog and on her tumblr. Right after you read her brilliant, (more than) 10 random answers.

Favorite Color:

Blue. Yankee blue to be exact.

Do you read fanfic?:

Obsessively. And I kind of wish more people did. There’s a lot of really awful fanfic out there and that’s usually what gets referenced in media as a joke. Plus for every one good story there’s ten “what the hell is this and why can’t you spell anything and holy wow that is not how shotgunning works” terrible stories. But the good ones are impressive. A lot of aspiring writers seem to be working out their style through fanfic these days and if you’re willing to ask people for recommendations, you can find 50,000 word epics that are better than a lot of books & don’t require an indepth understanding of a show.

And of course, if you just want some good porn, that’s there too. Just not 50 Shades.

Person you’d most like to have dinner with tonight

Joss Whedon.

Last episode of television that made you cry

It feels like it’s been way too long since I’ve cried at a newly aired episode of TV. But probably something from Grey’s Anatomy.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Assuming it’s not a cheap happy hour…some variation on a martini. Huckleberry ones preferably but that tends to be a Northwest thing.

Song you will never get enough of

“Behind Blue Eyes” by The Who. “Livin’ in the Future” by Bruce Springsteen. “Cocaine Blues” by Johnny Cash. “Train in Vain” by The Clash.

The name of your secret spy identity

If I told you, I’d have to kill you.

Tumblr. Yes or no?

YES. A thousand times yes. The more I’ve gotten into tumblr, the more my own blog falls by the wayside. It’s just so accessible and easy to use and definitely easier to engage followers than standard blogs. I’m just sorry for any non-Teen Wolf fans lately. I’m a wee bit obsessed.

Last movie you saw in the theater and did you like it?

Technically Argo–which was a thoroughly amazing movie, but it was a repeat viewing. The last new to me movie was Amour. I enjoyed it even more than I expected.

Favorite musical instrument

Drums. Specifically guys who play the drums. That still counts right?

If you were forced to be on a reality show, which would it be?

I’d create a new one. “Survival of the Fittest”. Family and friends nominate the most moronic people they know who then fight to the death Hunger Games style. Then I’d cheat my way on and machete my way to victory.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

Oh gosh. Probably Mean Girls, Newsies, and Empire Strikes Back.

Ferris wheel, Roller Coaster or Arcade?

Roller coaster. Always. Just not the ones with giant hills. I’ll take pitch-dark, spins, & twists any day.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

Columbus Day. It’s such a bullshit holiday and celebrates genocide and prejudice. Nice one USA.

You’re a groupie. Who’s the band?

McFly

Your favorite food to make for yourself

Mashed potatoes. Ultimate comfort food and I make damn good mashed potatoes.

Best book you’ve ever read

This is a stupid unfair question. But I probably reread “Dealing with Dragons” by Patricia Wrede, “The Emily Trilogy” by LM Montgomery, “The Chronicles of Narnia”, and “Rainbow Six” by Tom Clancy the most.

Favorite smell

The Pacific Northwest coastline. A stormy night on an Oregon beach is full of good, bad, and haunting smells. Also old books.

Waffles, Pancakes or French Toast?

In the morning, I’m making waffles.

Best GIF you’ve ever seen

http://media.tumblr.com/67818fb2f1c51fedd21b637c7855542b/tumblr_inline_mj20lkj6Hh1qz4rgp.gif

Travel and/or flight ritual?

Unless making sure I have books to read is a ritual, not really any. But I do try to bring coloring books, crayons, and a couple toys with me. I color anyway because it’s fun but it’s been a life saver if small kids are on a plane when I travel. Parents get treated like shit by other passengers and being able to help them out a little makes everyone happier. And it’s gotten me free booze from the flight attendants later.

Your favorite thing to do alone

Well there is one thing…

hahaha! Appropriate answer would be read or sing and dance around the house to cheesy pop songs.

First concert

Newsboys. The first one I paid for was I think OzzFest in 2001. That and the co-headlining Green Day/Blink 182 are the ones that stand out.

Cake or Bacon?

Maple bacon cake.

Pajamas in public. Yes or no?

That’s why drive-thrus were invented.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ Recap: She’s Come Undone

4x21

Here is your friendly reminder that after this episode, there are only 2 left in the 4th season of The Vampire Diaries. And despite a few reservations/questions, I loved The Originals (review here) and am really excited that it got a full season pick-up for next year. It will be interesting to see how they use these last few episodes to phase our Original family out of the Mystic Falls picture. Can’t wait to see what happens. Also, Salvatores. Need more Salvatores (I may have really missed them last week).

  •  It’s not that I don’t think Caroline deserves valedictorian. Caroline deserves ALL of the prizes. But when has she had time to get good grades? When was the last time she was even at school for something other than a doomed dance?
  • Is that a new cell door in the Salvatore basement? Have they upgraded their vampire jail? Are there contractors for that? Are they in the yellow pages? I’m asking for a friend.
  • Why is Stefan so reluctant to let Caroline try and help? Aren’t they willing to try ANYTHING at this point?
  • A.) Katherine is great and I love her but NoEmo Elena is a bitch and I am sick of her shit. B.) Caroline Forbes is perfect in every way. She even snaps necks perfectly.
  • You know who else is perfect? Matt Donovan, you guys. And I love that Rebekah actually seems to care what he thinks about her. She should.
  • “Bad girls don’t get nice jewelry.” I disagree Damon but you’re still funny.
  • I get what the boys are trying to do and I am behind it 100% but I still can’t believe they are torturing her. LIKE, REALLY CANNOT BELIEVE IT.
  • “I ordered you a cap and gown.” SERIOUSLY, C. Forbes. BEST.
  • At least Matt is willing to admit that he never goes to class. Like we didn’t already know.
  • Is it me or did Caroline look relieved/glad to see Klaus? I didn’t hate that.
  • So, only Bonnie can see Silas’ true face. Is there an option to buy Bonnie glasses for everyone else?
  • JFC, Elena. I understand forgetting to put on sunscreen but that fire act was pretty risky.
  • I should have known that Klaroline walk in the woods was too good to be true. And to think I almost cried. This show is mean.
  • How has this show nearly convinced me that Matt SHOULD take Rebekah up on her offer? That he SHOULD be with her. HOW??? She nearly killed him and she’s the reason Elena is in the predicament everyone is working so hard on. Just… HOW??
  • Haven’t I said a BILLION TIMES that I do not appreciate Caroline being tortured in any way? No one freaking listens. Wicked annoying.
  • Okay so the boys are genius. Katherine was exactly the right call and all of the awards for Nina Dobrev.
  • Or not. Oops.
  • Oh Matty!! You tried!! Bless your heart!!
  • GOOD GOD!! This is kinda scary!! Silas is SCARY!!! EEEEEKKKK!!! I have not good chills.
  • “Mommy!” Caroline!! STOP!! I am going to cry!! WAKE UP LIZ!!!
  • OH. MY. GOD. Matty had a ring on or something. RIGHT??? BECAUSE OH. MY. GOD. Damon. Seriously. He better be okay. I am all in favor of neck snaps but NEVER that one. NEVER.
  • I KNEW IT!! Thank you show. It would have not been fun to stop watching.
  • Okie dokie. Crying for reals now. Good job, boys. I think. “I’m not okay. But I’ll get better.” If only some of us could say that to ourselves more often. Right?
  • CAROLINE JUST STABBED A MOTHER EFFING NEEDLE INTO HER OWN NECK TO SAVE HER MOM. (trying not to concentrate on wanting to know where she got that). I’m not sure what I would have done if that hadn’t worked.
  • Come on Matty. How do you deny Rebekah, now? I’m not sure I could. Or that he should. Again, I ask, HOW???
  • Whoa, buddy. How do we feel about the possibility of Katherine being truly immortal? I already got Elena’s big-fat-no of a vote. What say you?

I’m having a really hard time deciding who gets this week’s MVP award. It would have to be Ms. Caroline Forbes OR, possibly Mr. Matt Donovan. In my opinion. What do you guys think? Did you cry along with me? Are we happy to have the old Elena back with an extra side of rage? I’m looking forward to the conclusion of this Silas mess. Will the veil be dropped? Do we want it to be, just so we can see dearly departed friends? I’m a little bit scared. Isn’t it great? Be sure to answer all of my questions in the comments. I love it when you guys help me figure out what to think.

10 Random Questions with Heather Vee

If you are in any way, shape or form a part of the Vampire Diaries fandom, you know Heather Vee. Not only is she the co-founder and site runner for our favorite TVD fansite, Vampire-Diaries.net, she is also co-editor of A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls and co-authoring Love You To Death Season 4 with another of my favorites, Crissy Calhoun. And because she is one of the coolest ladies I’ve ever had the peasure of meeting, she agreed to answer my silly questions.

Favorite Color

Green, all varying shades, all the time.

Do you read fanfic?

I used to, but not anymore. That’s not a commentary on quality, as I have read fic better than a lot of published novels, I’ve just drifted away from that aspect of fandom.

Last episode of television that made you cry

I very rarely cry over television, but when Alaric appeared to Jeremy in the Vampire Diaries Season 3 finale, I lost it.

The drink you order when someone else is buying

Either a bourbon, neat, or a Black Velvet, which is half hard cider and half Guinness. Though I have only recently discovered the beauty of a Kentucky Blizzard, so I might have a new go-to.

Song you will never get enough of

This is an impossible question and, frankly, I think you might be a sadist, Erin. How about this: The song I cannot get enough of right now is Jack White’s cover of U2′s “Love is Blindness.”

Tumblr. Yes or no?

I’ve actually had a Tumblr (not the one I use now) since the site was started. It’s very, very different now that it has exploded in popularity. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, who’s to say, but I find myself enjoying it more when I only visit once a week or so. I think Tumblr can facilitate fascinating discussions and I think it’s interesting that fandom seems to have migrated from LiveJournal to Tumblr; Tumblr gives talented fan artists a bigger platform to show off their wares, so that’s a definite positive. In any case, I think it’s good, but not my preferred means of interacting with folks. TWITTER 4EVA.

Favorite musical instrument

Anyone who knows me understands that I have a deep banjo fixation. I often joke that I’m in need of a BANJOS MAKE ME HOT t-shirt. I’m not sure when my love started but it is an enduring love. If you ever want to know the mood you can build with a banjo, stick Neko Case’s “Things That Scare Me” or “Deep Red Bells” on the player and marvel.

The movie you can recite the most lines from

The Princess Bride. I could actually sit in front of you and quote the film in its entirety from start to finish.

Holiday you’d most like to abolish

I loathe New Year’s. I have always loathed it. I crawl into bed well before midnight and sleep through it every year.

Your favorite food to make for yourself

I’m very big on roasted asparagus right now. Throw it in a pan, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, add minced garlic and salt, roast. Easy comfort food is remarkably easy.

Best book you’ve ever read

One book?! GO HOME, ERIN, YOU’RE DRUNK. All kidding aside – wow. I have a few books that are very close to my heart, ones I turn to again and again and again. I’m not sure I would trust anyone who had one favorite book. I think I’d just assume that’s the only book they had ever read and then I’d be sad about it.

Favorite smell

I love the smell of ballpoint ink on paper and, tragedy of tragedy, it’s something I don’t smell too often nowadays.

Your favorite thing to do alone

*raises eyebrow*

First concert

My first real concert was Tori Amos. She was touring for Under the Pink at the time, so I’m sure I’ve just dated the hell out of myself there but I can’t overstate what a huge impression she made on me in my pre-teen/teenage years. My first club show was Oasis on their first U.S. tour. I was 15 and my 18+ friends smuggled my Britpop-obsessed self in. I lost a large portion of my hearing in my left ear at that show! I’m partially deaf in that ear to this day. It was absolutely worth it.

‘The Vampire Diaries’ – The Originals: Review

???????????????????

This isn’t my usual recap/review but I wanted to share a few thoughts on “The Originals” since it’s not just another episode, but a Pilot for a possible new show. I have said several times that I feel that the only show that would be successful after TVD on Thursdays would be another TVD. Because when we are all finished watching The Vampire Diaries at 8:00, all we want to do is talk about The Vampire Diaries and watch more of it. A spinoff about the oldest vampire family seemed like the very best option. I guess we’ll see. In the mean time, I have some things I want to talk about:

  • Marcel is hot. Like, REALLY hot. I am all in favor of Marcel. Is it too early to buy an “I love Marcel” t-shirt?
  • I still get chills every time Elijah shows his magnificent face on screen. Good chills. And maybe frightened chills as well. No one heart rips like our beautiful Elijah. People in the TVD world need to show him some more damned respect. And home boy rocks a three-piece-suit like no one else. Lord have mercy.
  • Joseph Morgan continues to delight me. Klaus has been such a great edition to TVD and if The Originals is picked up, he will be sorely missed in Mystic Falls. If anyone has earned their own show though, it’s this guy.
  • I may get burned at the stake for this, but I am NOT a Haley fan. I have nothing against Phoebe Tonkin, she’s fine, I suppose, I just do not care much, one way or the other. AND:
  • The way that they have pulled Haley into The Originals is pretty much the stupidest thing to have ever occurred on TVD and this is a show where precious stones are “hidden” in soap dishes. This pregnancy IS soap. I can’t even really discuss it without rolling my eyes. I have nothing against babies but I do not believe that they belong on my vampire shows. There were rumors about possible puppies on TVD ages ago and I threatened to stop watching if they became true. I’m not sure I can follow through with that, in this case, but I want to. Just. Wow. I don’t even know.
  • What’s up with all of these rules? Are we going to get a copy of them? I feel that without knowing, I could possibly break one or 10 of them and endanger my own life, completely by accident.
  • I like Camille. A lot. We will get more of her, yes?
  • What are the chances we could just trade Elena for Katherine, full time? Katherine is the best of the best and I want her always.
  • The downiest of the downsides of this episode going to show is the possible loss of the Klaus/Caroline stuff. Love me some Klaroline. That message he left her? How could she deny him?

Without the THING THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED, I am not sure what the other options were for pulling the Original family out of Mystic Falls and into this new world, but certainly there WERE other options? I am just really unsure about it and that’s unfortunate because I actually loved every other thing about this episode/pilot. The new characters are wonderful and we always need more time with the original vamps. Before watching this episode,  I was having day dreams of all kinds of cross-over episodes in the vein of Buffy season 4/Angel season 1. That was some killer television. Can the TVD world pull it off? Or will the entire possibility reek like a dirty diaper?

10 Random Questions with Author Dianne Sylvan

My friend Dianne Sylvan is a well known author, blogger and tweeter. She has incredible insight on television, movies, and life in general. You will increase the value of your life by following her on twitter and by reading her blog. You can purchase all of her wonderful books on Amazon.com, including the novels in her “Shadow World” series. For the 2nd time, she was kind enough to take a time out from writing her next novel to answer some very important questions for me. VERY important.

1. Favorite color:

Red.

2. Do you read fanfic?

I used to, but I never had as much fun reading it as I did writing it. The last fic I wrote was, well, porn, set in the Supernatural universe.

3. Last episode of television that made you cry:

The Vampire Diaries, “Memorial.”  The scene at the very end with Alaric’s ghost just killed me.

4. Song you will never get enough of:

Adam Lambert, “Fever.”

5. Favorite musical instrument:

I’ve always wanted to learn piano, which is part of why the heroine of my books plays piano; but I also love the violin.  Violinists are inherently hot. (I’ve actually got one of those planned for the series too.)

6. The movie you can recite the most lines from:

A tie between Jurassic Park and Ghostbusters.  I have both memorized from start to finish.

7. Your favorite food to make for yourself:

Plain old yellow cake with chocolate chips in.

8. Waffles, pancakes, or French toast?

Waffles all the way.

9. First concert:

Here’s where I show how old/dorky I am – New Kids on the Block.  I need an app for my phone that, every time I mutter about “kids these days and their awful music,” just texts me in big letters:  HANGIN’ TOUGH.

10. Cake or bacon?

Well, I’m a vegetarian, so I’m gonna go with cake.  The whole bacon obsession thing going on right now really freaks me out.

10 Random Questions with Kate Linnea Welsh

Kate is not just a great friend and a great writer; she is also a very busy woman about town (town being the most important parts of the internet). Kate writes and edits for my favorite TVD site, Vampire Diaries.net, she also writes for TheTelevixen.com (my home away from home), blogs on her own and is launching her own new site: ReadtheScreen.com. Despite all of the awesome work that she does, she took the time to answer more than ten of my random questions. Be sure to follow her on twitter!

Blue! And I love that it has shades that evoke so many different moods.

Do you read fanfic?

Occasionally, usually when someone recommends a specific story. I used to read and write fanfic frequently but I just haven’t had time given my other writing commitments of late.

The Fringe series finale. SO MUCH CRYING.
